Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced that the company's share repurchase Share Repurchase

A program by which a company buys back its own shares from the marketplace, reducing the number of outstanding shares. This is usually an indication that the company's management thinks the shares are undervalued.
 program is continuing.

Year-to-date, Altera has repurchased a total of 6.4 million shares at an average price of $26.20 per share. On June 30, 2001, Altera's cash position was $833 million. Since that date, Altera has repurchased l.7 million shares at an average price of $28.18 per share.

Altera's remaining purchase authority, under board authorization, is 11.7 million shares.
