Altera Announces Stock Split.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 4, 1996--Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced that it will carry out a 2-for-1 stock split. The record date for the stock split will be Wednesday, December 18, 1996, and shareholders of record will receive one additional share of Common Stock for every share held.

Altera's transfer agent will mail the new stock certificates representing the additional shares on or about Monday, January 6, 1997. Upon completion of the split, Altera will have approximately 88,000,000 shares outstanding. The market price for Altera common stock as reported by Nasdaq will reflect the stock split beginning Tuesday, January 7, 1997.
