Winners of the "Product of the Year" award were selected in 39 different product categories from the hundreds of products reviewed in 2008 by EN-Genius. This honor is the fifth award Altera's Stratix IV FPGA family has won since the devices were announced in May 2008.

"Product of the Year awards are based on the expert personal opinion of the EN-Genius editorial staff," said EN-Genius editor-in-chief Paul McGoldrick. "We believe these award-winning products will make significant contributions to the bottom line numbers for the companies involved based on their strong technical merit, design innovation and marketability."

Stratix IV FPGAs deliver leadership in density, performance and power, and offer an ideal solution for high-end digital applications in several markets, including wireless and wireline communications, military and broadcast. Stratix IV FPGAs are comprised of two variants, an enhanced (E) version and a transceiver (GX) version. The family offers up to 680K logic elements, 22.4 Mbits of internal RAM For other uses, see Iram.
Internal RAM, or IRAM, is the address range of RAM that is internal to the CPU. Some object files contain an .iram section.

Generally, IRAM is composed of very high speed SRAM located alongside of the CPU.
and 1,360 18x18 embedded multipliers. The devices also utilize the latest architecture innovations and process techniques to deliver the lowest power and the highest performance of any high-end FPGA.

Stratix IV GX FPGAs feature up to 48 transceivers operating up to 8.5 Gbps, which enable the development of next-generation, high-bandwidth communication infrastructure. Stratix IV GX FPGAs incorporate up to four hard intellectual property (IP) cores for PCI Express Gen1 and Gen2 (x1, x4 and x8), and also support a wide range of protocols including Serial RapidIO([R]), Gigabit Ethernet, XAUI XAUI 10 Gigabit Attachment Unit Interface
XAUI Extended Auxiliary Unit Interface
XAUI XSBI Attachment Unit Interface (IEEE 802.3ae)
XAUI Ten Gbps Attachment Unit Interface
