"We are delighted to have been selected by Hewlett-Packard to develop audiophile quality sound through this unique desktop monitor solution," commented Edward Anchel, chairman and president of Altec Lansing Technologies.

"High-quality stereo sound is critical to a rich, multimedia environment and is something end-users increasingly appreciate. The Altec Lansing brand name is synonymous with synonymous with

) of 94 dB, with distortion of less than 0.4%, measured at 100 Hz and 10kHz. The signal to noise ratio is greater than 65dB and the channel separation is greater than 63dB. Input sensitivity is 300 mV for 1.5 watts at 1 kHz.

The frequency response of the speakers is 150 Hz to 18 kHz. As a result, the sound quality, clarity, signal separation and audio performance of these new integrated systems mirror the quality which has resulted in Altec Lansing receiving more product awards than any other brand of computer speakers.

Altec Lansing pioneered audiophile quality computer speakers in the early 1990s and has subsequently expanded its line of multimedia audio products to include a line of award-winning two and three-piece computer speaker systems.

The company also created the first computer speaker with built-in Dolby Pro-Logic circuitry, a compact multimedia center with built-in sound card, CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.
