 Booth No. 6632--Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc., the leading developer of integrated PC audio products, today introduced three powerful and cost effective speaker systems that combine quality audio output and a sleek look at a great price, offering consumers an outstanding value.

Unveiled at International CES 2001, the new Altec Value Line (AVS (Audio Video Coding Standard) A video compression technique developed by Chinese companies and supported by the Chinese government. Expected to provide better compression than MPEG-2, AVS was created to avoid paying royalties to the MPEG licensors, which are outside ) delivers the sound quality that computer gamers, MP3 fans and PC users expect in a space-saving and affordable package.

With pricing starting under $20, Altec's new AVS line consists of three speaker systems:
-- AVS500 - Designed especially for gamers, the five-piece AVS500 system
utilizes four satellites and a subwoofer to deliver true multi-dimensional
surround-sound excitement. This system is designed to deliver the sound
requirements of today's most demanding games.

-- AVS300 - The three-piece AVS300 combines two satellites and a subwoofer to
dramatically enhance traditional PC audio playback - ideal for music fans who
enjoy CD and MP3 playback as well as other PC entertainment formats.

-- AVS200 - The AVS200 is designed for the value-conscious consumer. This
speaker pair offers quality PC audio for gaming, music or entertainment at a
great price.

All three speaker systems in the value line offer power control, Power ON LED and are magnetically shielded to ensure compatibility with any PC monitor. The AVS500 system also offers both stereo and quad surround sound An audio recording and playback system that uses five or more channels plus a subwoofer channel. The AVS500, AVS300 and AVS200 will be available in the spring and have suggested retail prices of $59, $39 and $19 respectively.
