MILFORD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 1998--

ACS (Asynchronous Communications Server) See network access server. 45.1 and ACS44 Deliver High Quality Audio at an Attractive Price

Altec Lansing Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of computer and home entertainment sound systems, headphones, and microphones for personal digital media.  Technologies, Inc. today announced the latest addition to its 1998 family of computer audio speakers.

The ACS45.1 speaker system is an upgrade to the popular, award-winning ACS45 PowerCube(TM) and features a larger, wood subwoofer A speaker that reproduces the lower end of the audio spectrum. A subwoofer system may include a crossover circuit which switches frequencies at approximately 100Hz and under to the subwoofer, while passing the rest of the signal to the main speakers. . This addition enables the listener to experience a fuller range of audio with a deeper, richer bass. The ACS44 is a smaller footprint than the ACS45.1, delivering excellent audio playback through a three piece system that is a higher quality alternative to many two piece computer speaker systems at similar prices.

"Altec Lansing has made the best even better with the introduction of these two new speaker systems," said Edward Anchel, president, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and chairman of Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc. "We are excited to bring to consumers branded Altec Lansing quality at attractive prices. This means more consumers than ever before will be able to enjoy quality audio with their computers."

The ACS45.1 is a new and improved version of its predecessor, the category leading ACS45 PowerCube(TM). The new system includes two 6 watt satellites as well as a larger, 20 watt, wood subwoofer which delivers more enhanced low frequency audio playback.

This provides the consumer with a richer, fuller multimedia experience while still maintaining a small footprint at the same price of the ACS45. The new wood subwoofer also provides vastly improved bass effects Bass effects are electronic devices used to modify the tone, pitch or sound of electric bass guitars or, more rarely, amplified double basses. Bass effects can be housed in small 3" or 4" square "stompbox" effects pedals, larger floor multi-effect units, bass amplifiers, bass  to audio playback. Altec Lansing's ACS45.1 is the appropriate solution to any computer system providing outstanding audio for home or office content on the market today.

The ACS45.1 is now shipping at a suggested retail price of $99.

The ACS44 offers consumers a high quality, three piece audio solution at a two piece price. The new system features Altec Lansing's micro satellites which are smaller than the ACS45.1, but which still deliver an excellent audio experience to the desktop computer system.

The addition of the 15 watt subwoofer adds the low frequency response missing from two piece systems on the market today. This system is the perfect choice over a two piece system delivering quality audio to CDs, games and other computer associated entertainment.

The ACS44 is now shipping at a suggested retail price of $79.
