Altavista Mines Inc. -- Gold Resource on Santa Anna Quadrupled.BOUCHERVILLE, Quebec--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1997--Altavista Mines Inc. (ME:AIA AIA - Application Integration Architecture ; OTC OTC See: Over-the-counter. OTC See over-the-counter market (OTC). BB:AVSMF) is pleased to announce the preliminary results of the prefeasibility study on the Santa Anna property, located 15 kilometres west of La Sarre Sarre: see Saar, river; Saarland. in Northwestern Quebec. The discovery of zones 8 and 10 last winter considerably increased the resource on the Santa Anna property, now estimated at 1,615,000 tonnes grading 3.18 g/t Au (150,012 ounces of gold). This represents a substantial increase over the fall 1996 estimate of 400,000 tonnes grading 3.13 g/t Au (36,517 ounces of gold). The resource calculation was done for zones 8, 10, 12, 16, 18 and 20 based on intersections with widths of over two metres, with a cutoff grade of 1.4 g/t Au. The prefeasibility study also revealed that a portion of zones 10, 12, 16, 18 and 20 could be mined by open pit. The Company is presently developing a mine plan for this resource that includes, among other things, the production cost of an ounce ounce, in zoology ounce, in zoology: see leopard. ounce, unit of measurement ounce: see English units of measurement. of gold, as well as processing options. Twenty-four holes have been drilled on the Santa Anna property since January 1997 for a total of 5,725 metres. While the source of the mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. The potential of increasing this resource remains high as zones 8 and 10 are open laterally lat·er·al adj. 1. Of, relating to, or situated at or on the side. 2. Based on the information obtained to date, the Company is confident that the property has the potential to host a resource of more than one million ounces of gold. Altavista Mines will start a feasibility study "A Feasibility Study" is an episode of the original The Outer Limits television show. It first aired on 13 April, 1964, during the first season. The first 4,000 metres will be aimed at delineating the resource that could be mined by open pit and at categorizing this resource into proven and probable reserves. The next 6,000 metres will be drilled on the extensions of zones 8 and 10, in order to increase the property's gold resource. -0-
