Altavista Mines: Excellent Drill Results in Zimbabwe.MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 1997--(ME:AIA AIA - Application Integration Architecture .) (OTC Bulletin Board OTC Bulletin Board An electronic quotation listing of the bid and asked prices of OTC stocks that do not meet the requirements to be listed on the NASDAQ stock-listing system. :AVSMF) Altavista Mines Inc. is pleased to announce results of its drilling program on the Wild Mick property, located 22 kilometres southeast of Gweru in Zimbabwe. This initial program has already generated excellent results, including a four-metre intersection grading 10.6 g/t Au. The drilling program was carried out by Inmet Mining The 'Inmet Mining Corporation is a Canadian mining corporation that currently holds an 18% stake in Ok Tedi Mining Limited. Corporation ("Inmet"), the project operator, and consisted of 17 holes totalling 3,996 metres. It was aimed at testing geophysical anomalies (IP) with corresponding soil geochemical anomalies associated with large shear zones, various porphyry-type mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. In order to define the various lithologies associated with the Ultimus claim block, Inmet selected nine anomalies that allowed it to test all the lithologies across the width of the block. Several large structures were discovered on the Ultimus block. Hole UL-12 was drilled to test the centre of a deformation corridor and the depth extension of the former Good Heart mine. This hole returned excellent results, intersecting four metres grading 10.6 g/t Au in a sequence of sheared sheared adj. This structure will be tested on a priority basis during the next drilling program. Hole UL-11, drilled on the same section as hole UL-12, returned a silver-rich intersection grading 150 g/t Ag over 3.50 metres within a silicified si·lic·i·fy v. si·lic·i·fied, si·lic·i·fy·ing, si·lic·i·fies v.tr. The sample following this silver intersection returned 2.06 g/t Au over 1 metre. Hole UL-05 returned a gold value of 0.97 g/t Au over 50.5 metres. This hole was drilled in the Ultimus granite, a porphyrytic, sericitized granite containing quartz vein stockworks. Inmet practised very strict assay quality control, inserting standards in the group of samples to be assayed and reassaying of about 17 percent of the pulps. The samples were assayed using the fire assay method at the SGS SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SGS Symantec Gateway Security (appliance) SGS School of Graduate Studies SGS Subgrid Scale SGS Singapore Government Securities SGS Shell Global Solutions Zimlab laboratory (Harare, Zimbabwe) and the control reassays were done at the Swastika swastika Equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, all in the same rotary direction, usually clockwise. The fact that the distribution of gold in the drill holes is associated with different lithologies and is spread over most of the property indicates a well-established fracture system and the presence of substantial gold solutions that were able to travel and settle within these structural channels. Certain values encountered in the holes should be traced, and numerous other interesting targets remain to be tested. Based on these results, Inmet and Altavista consider the potential of finding an economic gold concentration on the Wild Mick property to be excellent. The property lies adjacent to the Wanderer mine, which produced 1.2 million ounces of gold, and is only eight kilometres north- northeast of the Tebekwe mine, which produced 1.3 million ounces of gold. Altavista Mines has an option to acquire a 50 percent interest in the Wild Mick property from Inmet Mining Corporation. Optioned by Inmet in January 1996, the Wild Mick property consists of 25 claim blocks totalling 2,267 claims and covering an area of 22.68 square kilometres. -0- Come visit our web site at the following address: http://www.altavistamines.com CONTACT: Altavista Mines Inc.
