The machine operated efficiently in continuing zircon zircon Silicate mineral, zirconium silicate, ZrSiO4, the principal source of zirconium. Zircon is widespread as an accessory mineral in acid igneous rocks; it also occurs in metamorphic rocks and, fairly often, in detrital deposits. recovery tests at a large heavy mineral sand operation in Florida. The first tests recovered up to 67 percent of the zircon in plant feeds while maintaining better than 85 percent zircon concentrate grades - this from a single pass through the new centrifugal jig. (Previous tests on the same feed stream yielded maximum 40 percent zircon recoveries - the current tests have increased recoveries by about 68 percent.)
