) has announced Dr. Altaf Carim will deliver a keynote address during Nanotech 2007, the nation's largest Nanotech Conference and Trade Show. Nanotech 2007 will be held May 20-24, 2007, in Santa Clara, Calif.

Dr. Carim is the Co-Chair, National Science and Technology Council The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) was established in the US by Executive Order on November 23 1993. This Cabinet-level Council is the principal means within the executive branch to coordinate science and technology policy across the diverse entities that make up , Committee on Technology Subcommittee on Nanoscale Science, Engineering and Technology (NSET NSET Nanoscale Science Engineering and Technology ) Scientific User Facilities Division, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Science, U.S. Department of Energy.

"He has authored or coauthored over 85 research publications in these areas, including two book chapters and has edited two volumes. Dr. Carim joined the Materials Sciences and Engineering Division in the Office of Basic Energy Sciences at DOE in September 2001 as a Program Manager with primary responsibility for activities in the structure and composition of materials. He spent two years on the faculty of The University of New Mexico The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a public university in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was founded in 1889. It also offers multiple bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs in all areas of the arts, sciences, and engineering.  and then went to Penn State, where he spent eleven years on the faculty, most recently as Chair of the Electronic and Photonic Materials Program, prior to joining DOE. He previously held summer positions at Bell Laboratories and the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center Palo Alto Research Center - XEROX PARC , did graduate work under support from Philips Research Laboratories Sunnyvale, held a post-doc at the Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium in The Netherlands, and also had a sabbatical appointment at the Carnegie Institution of Washington The introduction to this article may be too long.
