AltaVista Extends the World's First MicroPortal; Internet Record $5 Million Electronic Cash Incentive to First Users.

AltaVista Company today announced a significant upgrade to the AltaVista Tracker, a service first introduced in March of this year, with the unveiling of the AltaVista MicroPortal.

The AltaVista MicroPortal: First Micro-window to Relevant Content on the Internet

The AltaVista MicroPortal is a simple downloadable micro-browser that users can keep open as a separate desktop window regardless of what Web location they are browsing See browse.  or what desktop application they are using. When left open, users have one-click access to search capabilities and customizable information throughout the AltaVista Network. The AltaVista MicroPortal will provide a wide range of constantly updated useful information, enabling users to stay apprised of the latest news, weather, sports and stock information. The AltaVista MicroPortal will be accessible to any user that has Internet Explorer Microsoft's Web browser, which comes with Windows starting with Windows 98. The longer users keep the microportal window open, the more chances they are offered to claim their e-cash certificates. Additionally, as the number of registered users grows, the amount of gift certificates that is paid out each month will increase.
