AltaVista Company today announced the addition of five seasoned Internet sales executives to its advertising sales team, creating an industry-first model of combining in-house sales expertise with an ad serving network.

Among those joining AltaVista Company include: John Dawson John Dawson is a name shared by several notable men, including:

, Eastern Sales Director; Rick Gruber, Western Sales Director; Chris Bolte, Director of Sponsorships; David Karnstedt, Director of Sales Development, AltaVista and Zip2; and Keith Lorizio, Director of Sales Development, Shopping.com. The new executives bring a variety of advertising, sales and marketing experience to AltaVista, both from interactive and traditional media.

The new advertising sales team has been established to drive sponsorships and maximize advertising revenue for AltaVista's leading properties, including the AltaVista Internet guide ( http://www.altavista.com ), Shopping.com ( http://www.shopping.com ) and Zip2 ( http://www.zip2.com ). Under this model, AltaVista's advertising team will support the company's current partnership with DoubleClick Inc. and develop new sponsorship and promotional opportunities for major accounts.

The new advertising sales team will be led by Perry Allison, Vice President of Advertising Sales for AltaVista. Allison is a veteran of Internet advertising Delivering ads to Internet users via Web sites, e-mail, ad-supported software and Internet-enabled cellphones. Also called an "ad network," Internet advertising organizations act as a middleman between the advertiser and the Web sites and software publishers that display the ads. , having served as AltaVista's Vice President of Advertising over the past two years. Prior to her work at AltaVista, Allison was Director of Marketing and Sales Development for NewsPage, a Web site from the NewsEdge Corporation.

David Karnstedt joins as Director of Sales Development, AltaVista and Zip2. In this role, he will manage and implement sales and advertising programs for both the AltaVista Internet guide and Zip2, AltaVista's local content platform. Karnstedt's previous experience includes Advertising Director positions at Wired Digital and SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing.

Keith Lorizio will serve as Director of Sales Development for Shopping.com. Lorizio will work to develop new opportunities with partners and advertising prospects on Shopping.com, AltaVista's leading destination shopping site. Prior to AltaVista, Lorizio served as Director of National Sales for Zip2 Corporation and Director of National Sales for Bell Atlantic Electronic Commerce.

As Director of Sponsorship, Chris Bolte will be responsible for all sponsorship programs for AltaVista Company. Bolte was formerly Director of National Accounts for Wired Digital, and a National Account Executive of Advertising Sales with Mary Tyler Moore This article is about the actress. Rick Gruber will serve as Western Sales Director and John Dawson as Eastern Sales Director, responsible for managing advertising sales and selling large sponsorship programs throughout their respective regions. Gruber previously served as Director of Sales, West for Time Inc. New Media. Dawson joins AltaVista from Excite. Inc., where he served as Senior Director of Eastern Sales and Advertising. Previously, John was the publisher at Hachette Filapacchi New Media and VP, Sales at E! Online.
