Alta Genetics Inc. completes Altapon joint venture in Europe.

Altapon began operations on Jan. 1, 1996. Previously announced negotiations with Koepon Genetics B.V. were successful and Altapon is now marketing the company's dairy semen in Holland, Belgium and Germany.

Altapon plans to expand semen sales into other Northern European countries and will establish a European based Holstein breeding program A breeding program is the planned breeding of a group of animals or plants, usually involving at least several individuals and extending over several generations. Breeding programs are commonly employed in several fields where humans wish to manage the characteristics of their  to complement these marketing activities. Altapon has established a very strong management team to develop its presence in the European market.

The management team is composed of: Bartel Verbeek, Director Breeding Programs; Ronald van Giessen, Director of Production; and Andries Haveman, Commercial Director. This management team has many years experience in their respective areas of specialization in the Holland artificial insemination artificial insemination, technique involving the artificial injection of sperm-containing semen from a male into a female to cause pregnancy. Artificial insemination is often used in animals to multiply the possible offspring of a prized animal and for the breeding  industry and abroad.

Alta Genetics has entered into this 50/50 joint venture with Koepon, an agri-business group headquartered in the Netherlands. Koepon is involved internationally in dairy farming, dairy processing, artificial insemination, embryo and livestock exports, agriculture real estate and other agricultural related activities.

 with dairy operations in four countries. This association, and the experienced leadership of the management team, is a strong base upon which to expand sales of dairy genetics in the European market.

Alta Genetics is engaged in the production, research and marketing of products and services based on livestock genetics. The company specializes in bull semen, cow embryos, live cattle and reproductive technologies.

Research is focused on the application of technology to maintain the company's world wide reputation for quality genetics.
