Alstom delivers first train of Algiers Tramway.

The first train of Algiers Tramway was delivered Wednesday by the Consortium Alstom to Algiers Underground Company (EMA) in the presence of Transport Minister Amar Tou. Built in France, the train which was transported from Algiers port to Bordj El Kiffan garage is 43 meters long and consists of three cars with a total capacity of 400 passengers. The transport capacity is 6,000 passengers per hour with a speed of 21km per hour and a frequency of 4 minutes in rush hours and 8 minutes during lowest hourly traffic. "This event marks a new phase of the Algiers tramway which will be brought to service in 2010," said the minister.AaAaAa
