Alqasi will help me finish with a flourish today; SOFT GROUND WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.Byline: MICK KINANE IT'S the final day of the turf season, and I am hoping it ends on a high note for me in the two feature races, the Knockaire Stakes and the Eyrefield Stakes The Eyrefield Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for two-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1 mile and 1 furlong (1,811 metres) at Leopardstown Racecourse in late October or early November. . ALQASI has solid form in Group Two races in England, and he will have no difficulty with the prevailing soft ground, and I am expecting a big run from him in the Knockaire Stakes. I rode him to be placed in group company before, and on his run when second to Paco's Boy at Newbury a few weeks ago, that would appear to be superior form to anything else in the race. He is a good horse who rarely runs a bad race, and ALMASS looks his main danger after she won a listed race at Cork earlier this month. There is not much to her, but she has improved all season, was impressive when she won her last start and she goes well on soft ground. EMILY BLAKE placed form in group races Group races are the highest standard of thoroughbred horserace in Australia. The Australian Pattern Committee recommends to the Australian Racing Board (ARB) which races shall be designated as Group races. earlier on this season, and she won well with a valuable handicap at Fairyhouse, and a case could also be made for TIAN SHAN Tian Shan or Tien Shan (both: tēĕn shän) [Chin.,=celestial mountains], mountain system of central Asia, extending c.1,500 mi (2,410 km) from the Pamir Mts. . However, I wouldn't swap my fellow for anything else in the race. MOURAYAN looks the one to beat in the Eyrefield Stakes. He won his maiden around here, and is a good solid colt. He ran a very good race at The Curragh This article is about the plain in County Kildare. For the racecourse on the plain, see Curragh Racecourse. For the willow scrub habitat known as curragh on the Isle of Man, see Curragh (habitat). For the Irish boat, see Currach. , but he was forced to miss the Racing Post Trophy The Racing Post Trophy is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run over a distance of 1 mile at Doncaster Racecourse in late October. . However, his blood has been good since, and he looks a good solid performer, and the maiden that he won earlier on in the year has worked out well. Aidan O'Brien Aidan P. O'Brien (born [1]]], is an Irish horse racing trainer. He is the private trainer for John Magnier and his associates at Coolmore Stud and heads up the training operation at Ballydoyle Stables in County Tipperary. has a good record in this race, and it looks significant that he has opted to run the maiden Aristocrat. Mark Johnston sends over recent Red Car maiden winner SHADY LADY, but a bigger danger may be THE BULL HAYES, who was probably below form on his last start. I ride KALAROUNA in the opening fillies' maiden. She's a well-related filly that is very laid-back, and she is ready to start off. We were keen to get a run into her, but she is a big and strong and I'm hoping she runs a nice race. BIG GAME HUNTER is a nice colt by Saddler's Wells, and I've been happy with him and he's a fine big horse who should do well next season. Seven furlongs looks his minimum trip at the moment, but he has pleased us in his work and he will obviously improve for the run. I'm happy to ride CLOPF in the November handicap. He looked a very good horse a couple of seasons ago, and probably didn't quite reach the heights that were expected over hurdles. He has since won over fences, and handles an ease in the ground, and he should see out the two-mile trip well. This looks a competitive race, and I like the chances of SESENTA, who comes from a yard that has a good record in these races. DOLPHIN BAY is a horse that I like, and he ran a nice race at Navan. He was unsuited to the slow early pace, but they usually go a sensible gallop at Leopardstown, and that should suit him. This is usually his time of year, and in an open race I'd give him a chance of reaching the frame. Alqasi has solid form in Group Two races and I'm expecting a big run from him CAPTION(S): DANGER Almass; THE MIRROR IMAGE OF SUCCESS WINNER Daily Mirror Northern Ireland editor Gerry Millar and Daily Mirror general manager Joanne McGreevy present Peter Carberry with his trophy after he won the Mirror Handicap Chase at the Down Royal Festival of Racing yesterday |
