Alps Electric Introduces Enhanced Windows 95 Keyboard; Includes Windows 95 Keys, Ergonomic Erase-Eaze Backspace Key, and Alps' Spill-Resistant Membrane Keyswitch Technology.

(USA), Inc., a leading manufacturer of peripherals, keyboards and pointing devices, today introduced a low-cost, Windows 95 keyboard.

The Alps Enhanced Windows 95 Keyboard includes Windows 95 keys, an ergonomic ergonomic - Concerning ergonomics or exhibitting good ergonimics.  Erase-Eaze backspace (1) To move the screen cursor one column to the left, deleting the character that was in that position. The Alps Enhanced Windows 95 Keyboard features a 105-key layout in a compact, contoured design that conserves desk space. For easy navigation through Windows 95 and instant command over applications, the Alps Enhanced Windows 95 Keyboard has three Windows 95 keys. Two Windows keys bring up the Start menu, which displays a list of all active programs.

A third Applications key acts like the right mouse button, which in many applications brings up an options menu. The easy-to-reach keys make application control fast and efficient with the touch of a finger. Users no longer need to use a mouse or memorize mem·o·rize

An ergonomic Erase-Eaze backspace key, located on the left side of a split spacebar, makes corrections and backspacing faster and easier. The spacebar is divided into two parts the right side is used by the right thumb for normal spacing, and the left side (Erase-Eaze key) is used by the left thumb to backspace and delete.

The user's eyes and hands never need to leave their standard position, making backspacing and deleting more comfortable and efficient. Through a series of hot-key combinations, the function of the spacebar and Erase-Eaze keys can be swapped, or both can be used as a spacebar. The Alps Enhanced Windows 95 Keyboard also includes the standard backspace key located above the Enter key. The Enter key has also been enlarged for added convenience.

"Because most people typically use their right thumb to hit the spacebar, there is exceptional benefit to having the backspace key in such a convenient location," said Dennis Steele, senior channel product manager for Alps. "Users no longer need to stretch to reach one of the most commonly used keys." User comfort was also a major consideration in the keyboard's sleek, low-profile design. The low profile puts the keys closer to the desktop surface, making typing easier and minimizing the need for wrist rests and other supports, according to according to
