Alpine Communications joins a growing list of IOCs who, after deploying Copper Mountain's CopperEdge DSLAMs, have selected the VantEdge Access BRAS for broadband aggregation. Specifically, Alpine Communications will deploy the VantEdge to aggregate its existing CopperEdge DSLAMs using the VantEdge's high density T1 Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA (Interactive Multimedia Association, Annapolis, MD) An earlier trade association founded in 1988 originally as the Interactive Video Industry Association. "We needed a low cost, scalable solution for broadband aggregation," said Tim Johnson, Plant Manager at Alpine Communications. "Our experience with the reliability of Copper Mountain's products, coupled with the fact that both the CopperEdge and VantEdge share a common, easy-to-use network management system, made our decision an easy one."

"Deployment of the VantEdge as a broadband aggregation platform is an attractive next step for our existing CopperEdge customers due to the integrated management capabilities of the two platforms," said Rick Gilbert, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Copper Mountain. "We are pleased that Alpine Communications has selected the VantEdge, and we expect more of our IOC customers to consider the VantEdge for broadband aggregation as their networks grow and as they look to enable value-added services."
