Alpine Air Elects New Board Member.

Alpine Air Express, Inc. (OTCBB:ALPE), a leading provider of regional air cargo transport and logistics services, today announced that it has elected David J. Leonard, 49, to its board of directors and audit committee. Mr. Leonard succeeds the late Charles L. Bates. The total number of Alpine board members stands at five.

Mr. Leonard is president, CEO and founder of VeloCom Inc., an international broadband communications company providing competitive data transmission, Internet access, and voice services in select Latin American markets. Previously, he served as president and CEO of United International Holdings (United GlobalCom) Latin America, a subsidiary of United GlobalCom, with ownership interests in telecommunications properties in Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil. Mr. Leonard was also president and CEO of Kabelvision. Under his leadership, Kabelvision became Sweden's largest CATV operator, expanding its subscriber base from 50,000 to over 400,000 customers in under three years.

Mr. Leonard received a bachelor of arts in international relations from the University of Notre Dame and a master of business administration in finance from the University of Colorado. He currently serves on the boards of directors of VeloCom and Vesper and has previously served on the boards of VTR Hipercable, UIH Latin America, UIH Argentina, Net Sao Paulo, and Kabelvision. He was also Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2000.
