Alphatec Group acquires Digital Testing Services, Inc.

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 1995--Alphatec Group announced the addition of DTS, formerly Digital Testing Services, Inc., to its rapidly growing list of manufacturing service companies. Acquired by Alphatec Electronics Corporation, DTS becomes the eighth Alphatec Group company.

DTS is a 100 plus employee company located in Santa Clara, California. DTS offers a wide range of IC testing services including wafer probe, final product testing, test program design and development, test program conversion and technical training.

Robert Mollerstuen, Alphatec Group President and Chief Operating Officer announced, "There will be no change in management. Dr. Sassan Raissi will continue as General Manager. We'll help DTS to greatly expand its business while DTS will add substantial technical strength to our group."

Alphatec companies have historically performed consigned testing. Consigned testing requires testing be executed exactly as prescribed by the customer and performed on test equipment provided by the customer. With the capabilities of DTS, Alphatec Group companies will now be able to offer complete turnkey manufacturing from wafer testing through assembly and final product testing.

DTS will also be responsible for establishing a common base of test platforms and uniform testing practices at all Alphatec company locations. This will ensure easy migration from one Alphatec manufacturing location to another.

DTS and the Alphatec Group Offices are relocating to a new 75,000 square feet facility at 3600 Peterson Way in Santa Clara, CA. This much larger (DTS present facility is 20,000 square feet) facility will allow DTS to install burn-in capability and increase their tester installations from 21 to 38.

One Alphatec company, Alphatel also provides high volume IC printed circuit board mounting and assembly into small enclosure final products -- presently telephones and answering machines.
