Alphasmart Neo is a word processor with a full keyboard and LCD screen. Other features include instant on/off, one button file access, and autosave. The unit comes loaded with AlphaWord Plus word processor software, which includes a spell-checker and thesaurus, user dictionary, find/replace and word count, Spanish-English word lookup, and a built-in help system for quick access to command references. Built-in SmartApplets include Beamer, an application for sharing text files wirelessly; KeyWords, a keyboarding and typing tutor; and a calculator with five functions and virtual paper tape. The keyboard supports QWERTY, Dvorak, and left- and right-handed layouts. The screen can be configured to display two through six lines of text. Storage capacity is 2 megabytes (MB) for software and 512 kilobytes (KB) for data (over 200 pages of text). This unit is compatible with Macintosh and Windows computers, as well as many IrDA-enabled and selected USB printers.
