Alpharma Inc., Ft. Lee, NJ, announces Dean J. Mitchell is named Pres/CEO. Mitchell will succeed Ingrid Wiik, who previously announced she planned to retire as CEO once a successor was named.

Mitchell has nearly three decades of senior management experience working at global pharmaceutical companies including Bristol-Myers Squibb and GlaxoSmithKline. In addition to overseeing various multi-billion dollar businesses, he also worked in strategic planning and product development and commercialization.
