Alpharel Trimco expands installation at Bay Networks Inc., begins beta testing of WISDOM.

(NASDAQ/NMS:AREL), a principal supplier of enterprisewide imaging application software, Wednesday announced that Bay Networks Inc. has purchased 140 additional FlexFolder licenses.

The order represents a significant investment by Bay Networks to extend its initial integrated document management system.

Bay Networks is a leading worldwide supplier of network services and products such as high-end routers, wide-area network access devices, local-area network switches, intelligent hubs and sophisticated management software.

Alpharel/Trimco installed an evaluation system at Bay Networks in September 1994. The favorable results of this evaluation spurred Bay Networks to purchase a complete system for its Santa Clara, Calif., facility. The system will be used for manufacturing and engineering applications.

"The company's market evaluation and recent selection of our FlexFolder product clearly indicates that Alpharel/Trimco has solutions flexible enough to meet the goals of a large, diverse company with a wide range of document management needs."

To leverage the benefits of managing documents on-line, Bay Networks has agreed to beta-test Alpharel/Trimco's new product, WISDOM, an Internet tool that facilitates access to participating electronic document vaults.

WISDOM -- Web Information Server & Distributed Object Maitre'd -- is Web server software designed to instantly and economically expand a traditional integrated document management enterprise into an all-encompassing integrated document network.

According to Cliff Bell, information systems manager at Bay Networks: "Our participation in the WISDOM beta test program is good for Bay Networks because we have a say in the development of a product that we feel will further improve our ability to share information. With employees and business partners spread across the United States and throughout the world, the ability to access information on demand will greatly benefit our company."

Full release of WISDOM is scheduled for early in the second quarter. WISDOM pricing remains to be finalized, but will be consistent with other Web products.

Bay Networks now has the rights to license certain Alpharel software products during the three-phase system rollout. The initial installation includes Alpharel/Trimco's QManager workflow product and AlphaVIEW PLUS. Other Alpharel/Trimco products in the configuration include scan, quality control, view and markup tools on Microsoft Windows 95 and Macintosh workstations.
