, a Silicon Valley education technology developer, announced today that its AlphaSmart The AlphaSmart is a brand of portable, battery powered, word-processing keyboards manufactured by AlphaSmart, Inc., currently owned by Renaissance Learning, Inc. Background  keyboard has been selected by the J. A. & Kathryn Albertson Kathryn Albertson (August 27 1908 - April 30 2002) was the wife of the founder of the Albertsons chain of grocery stores and a notable philanthropist.

She was born Kathryn McCurry, in Boise, Idaho on August 27, 1908, the daughter of Neunan and Ida Mae McCurry.
 Foundation to be part of the Foundation's new Technology Initiative.

Dedicated to making technology an effective teaching tool, the Foundation is providing approximately $80 million over the next three years to integrate technology into the classroom. The first phase of this innovative program will offer every K-12 school district in Idaho up to $250,000 to acquire hardware, software and teacher training to improve student learning.

The cost-efficient AlphaSmart keyboard will enable these school districts to stretch their grant dollars by equipping e·quip

The AlphaSmart 2000 is an intelligent peripheral that operates as a remote keyboard. Its portability provides students with the opportunity to write essays, take notes or practice keyboarding anywhere and at anytime. For example, an entire class can word-process on their personal AlphaSmart and later transfer their individual text files into any application on a PC or Macintosh.

The Albertson Foundation believes that children need to have at their fingertips "Fingertips" is a 1963 number-one hit single recorded live by "Little" Stevie Wonder for Motown's Tamla label.
