With over 24 years of high-tech experience including NuMega, Sybase and Powersoft, Herring will share his extensive start-up experience and operational expertise with the AlphaBlox Board. Herring currently serves as a Partner at Polaris Venture Partners, an early investor in AlphaBlox and a venture group aimed at facilitating portfolio company growth through mentor relationships with key industry entrepreneurs.

Prior to his role at Polaris Ventures, Herring served as President and CEO of NuMega Technologies, Inc. where he established the market for Advanced Error Detection and Debugging software and positioned NuMega as the undisputed market and technology leader.

During his tenure, Herring doubled annual sales to more than $16 million before CompuWare acquired the company in 1997. Tom also served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development for Powersoft Corporation, where he helped position Powersoft as one of the most successful early client/server software companies.

After a highly successful IPO in 1993, Powersoft was acquired by Sybase in 1995 for approximately $900 million. Herring holds an M.S. in Statistics and Economics and a B.B.A. in Marketing from Texas Tech University.
