Alpha Technologies to power NYNEX's new multiservice system.


BELLINGHAM, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1995--Alpha Technologies, a leading manufacturer of broadband network power products, announced that they have signed an agreement with NYNEX NYNEX New York-New England & X for the Unknown (Telephone Company)

 to provide power products to their new broadband network currently under construction in the New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  area.

As part of the terms of the contract, Alpha will provide power supplies for NYNEX's new full-service video, telephony and digital services network. Initially this network will serve 330,000 households in eastern Massachusetts and 60,000 households in Warwick, Rhode Island Warwick is a city in Kent County, Rhode Island, United States. It is the second largest city in the state, with 85,808 people. Its mayor, since 2000, has been Scott Avedisian. Founded by Samuel Gorton in 1642, Warwick has witnessed major events in American history. , and will have the capacity to carry hundreds of channels.

The system will allow subscribers to receive both expanded cable television and traditional telephone service via a 750 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  fiber optic network. Each power node is capable of serving as many as 500 homes and is equipped with the most advanced status monitoring system available in the industry. With this network management system, NYNEX will be able to diagnose problems remotely and manage their network without dispatching service trucks.
