Alpha Industries Announces Election of James Henderson as Director.

WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 1999--

ALPHA INDUSTRIES, INC. (Nasdaq:AHAA) today announced that James W. Henderson has been elected to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Henderson is President of Analytical Systems Engineering Corporation (ASEC). ASEC, a systems engineering and integration company, is located in Burlington, Massachusetts and has more than 700 employees in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.

Under Mr. Henderson's leadership, ASEC has an extensive record of successful design, development and installation of complex information and communications systems, including a fiber optic telecommunications backbone linking command centers, radar sites, communications centers and airports in Saudi Arabia for the Peace Shield initiative. ASEC was also responsible for a large-scale non-destructive examination system to inspect containerized cargo shipments for contraband.

Mr. Henderson has served on the boards or as a chapter officer of the Armed Forces Communication Electronics Association, the National Defense Industrial Association and several educational, financial and medical organizations. Mr. Henderson has a degree in electrical engineering and earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
