Alpha Industries, Inc. Announces Two-For-One Stock Split.

WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2000

) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved a two-for-one stock split, to be effected in the form of a stock dividend or stock distribution, subject to stockholder approval of an increase in the Alpha's authorized shares of Common Stock to 100 million shares.

Alpha will seek approval of the share increase at a Special Meeting of Stockholders to be held on March 28, 2000; the record date for the meeting will be February 11, 2000. Subject to receiving such stockholder approval, the record date for the stock split will be March 29, 2000 and the payment date will be April 19, 2000. On the payment date, the transfer agent will mail certificates representing one additional share for each share held on March 29, 2000. Should stockholder approval be obtained, the stock split will increase the number of shares outstanding from approximately 20 million to approximately 40 million shares.

Alpha Industries designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary radio frequency, microwave frequency and millimeter wave frequency integrated circuits and discrete semiconductors for wireless voice and data communications. The primary applications for Alpha's products include wireless handsets for cellular and personal communications services, or PCS. Alpha also produces integrated circuits, discrete components and ceramic resonators and ferrites used in wireless base station equipment, cable television, wireless local loop, wireless personal digital assistants and wireless local area networks.
