"The key to a profitable transition from paper to a post Check 21 electronic payments infrastructure is to automatically capture, validate, proof and balance transactions at the earliest opportunity," said Vijay Balakrishnan, executive vice president of marketing at Alogent. "Automating deposits at multiple points of presentment including branch tellers, ATMs, self-service kiosks The self-service kiosk rose with the development of the ATM and adoption by consumers coupled with advanced technologies such as touch-screens. Self-service kiosks are hardware devices that work in combination with self service software, allowing users to perform any number of , cash vaults and points of presentment outside the bank itself enables improved customer service and transaction quality while significantly reducing end-to-end processing costs."

Alogent has entered into partnerships centered on the successful integration of its Sierra Xpedite(R), extensible deposit automation(TM) product with key hardware and software platforms. At Retail Delivery, Sierra Xpedite will be operational in each of the partner booths--automating deposits and transmitting transactions in real-time to the Alogent booth. Visitors can ensure that checks deposited across varied and multiple points of presentment are automatically processed at each partner booth, and that all check data and images are virtually captured across a diverse point of presentment network, and processed for onward inter-bank exchange.

Branch Teller Stations

Sierra Xpedite is integrated with branch automation systems to capture check images, recognize amounts using intelligent character recognition In computer science, intelligent character recognition (ICR) is an advanced optical character recognition (OCR) system that allows fonts and different styles of hand writing to be learned by a computer during processing to improve accuracy and recognition levels. , and automatically proof and balance deposits. This enables branch personnel to devote more time to customer service. It also eliminates errors due to manual data entry, and makes real-time information available for added service, fraud detection, check truncation and image exchange. Alogent's branch automation partners are Getronics (booth number 2248), Harland Financial Solutions (booth number 2409) and TouchPoint Solutions (booth number 2647).

Image Enabled ATMs

It facilitates the issuance of a real-time proof of deposit, reduces fraud (for example, from empty envelopes), and can deliver savings in transportation through paper truncation. Alogent has partnered with Diebold, Inc. (booth number 2433) to bring this capability to market.

Cash Vaults

Cash vaults receive high volume mixed deposits of both cash and checks. Sierra Xpedite integrated with cash vault management systems ensures that all transactions are automatically proofed and balanced before leaving the vault. This reduces cost through streamlined workflows, and provides item-level accountability, with minimal impact on vault operations. Alogent and Glory (U.S.A.) Inc. (booth number 1746) have teamed to automate cash vault deposits.

Self Service Kiosks

Sierra Xpedite adds deposit automation capability to kiosks that supplement branch personnel and ATMs to deliver services such as check cashing, official checks, money orders, and money transfers. Sierra Xpedite reduces branch personnel workload, eliminates errors, and accelerates transactions by using automated image workflows and character recognition. Source Technologies (booth number 1017) and Alogent have joined forces to present this solution.

Teller Station and Branch Back Counter Capture

Sierra Xpedite is capable of working with a wide range of capture devices that vary in size, speed and other features. Simultaneous capture of check images and data can be performed at the branch teller station or at branch back counters for high-volume deposits.
