ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2002

Alogent Corp., a leading developer of payment transaction processing Updating the appropriate database records as soon as a transaction (order, payment, etc.) is entered into the computer. It may also imply that confirmations are sent at the same time.

Transaction processing systems are the backbone of an organization because they update constantly.
solutions for global financial institutions and remittance processors, is showcasing integrated branch deposit automation at BAI's Retail Delivery 2002, with a multi-partner live demonstration on the show floor.

Payments and deposits captured at five-partner "virtual branches" will be transmitted in real-time and processed at the "Bank of Alogent" (booth #1117), which will function as the bank of first deposit.

Companies working with Alogent in its virtual branch network include the following capture device, technology, and software vendors: Digital Check (booth #647), Epson (booth #1400), Intel Corporation/Microsoft (booth #1507), Panini Panini (pä`nēnē), fl. c.400 B.C., Indian grammarian. The purpose of the live demonstration is to showcase the combined automation and electronification capabilities of these partners' products and of Alogent's Sierra Xpedite as they speed the deposit process, reduce work, and increase quality.

These advantages result in customer service benefits (more time to sell to the customer, fewer errors, early access to customer account information); bank-revenue benefits (earlier deposits and increased float income); earlier dissemination of balanced transaction data and images to image archive and a relational database relational database

"Flat check volumes, Check 21 (formerly Check Truncation Act), and alternatives such as ACH conversion are driving significant interest in check truncation, imaging and improvements in transaction processing efficiency. Our live, multi-virtual branch demonstration using proven products enables bankers to see how deposits made anytime, anywhere can be captured, validated, distributed, and processed to deliver paper truncation, process improvement and cost reduction benefits."

As part of a contest at the show, Alogent is distributing a brochure describing the virtual branch network and a cash envelope to all BAI registrants. Attendees are encouraged to bring the cash envelope - which contains Alogent checks - to Alogent's virtual branch partner booths throughout the BAI exhibit hall. Each time an attendee visits a partner booth for the first time, they earn another entry in the drawing for a $1,000 Circuit City gift certificate.

At the partner virtual branches, attendees write in an amount on an Alogent check as well as complete a payment stub A small software routine placed into a program that provides a common function. Stubs are used for a variety of purposes. For example, a stub might be installed in a client machine, and a counterpart installed in a server, where both are required to resolve some protocol, remote procedure  or deposit slip. After the deposit is processed and posted using Sierra Xpedite software, attendees can see that the images and data are sent to the clearing center at the Bank of Alogent booth using secure intranet technologies. If attendees want "cash back" from their transaction, they are provided with Alogent "play" money to put in their cash envelope, along with details that vouch for vouch for

By visiting the Alogent booth with their cash envelope at the completion of their virtual branch visits, attendees can view the transactions they conducted at the branch locations and see how Alogent's software electronically processes images and data from the point of deposit through the clearing process, with paper to follow. In addition, attendees learn how items such as cash-in/out tickets are eliminated at the virtual branches using Alogent's Sierra Xpedite software, and how other paper items, like on-us checks and credit slips, may be truncated at the branches, if desired, or follow in one trip to the center at the end of the business day.

Attendees can also learn more about the benefits of moving from paper to electronic processing including increased processing speed See MHz. , reduced errors, earlier recognition of cleared funds, reduced processing costs and reduced exceptions by attending Alogent's Solutions Showcase entitled "Adding Value (to Your Bottom Line) with Deposit Automation." The presentation will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 11:15 a.m. in room 306.
