Allure releases best of beauty issue: prestige beauty sales gain through first half. (News Front).* Allure magazine's October Best of Beauty issue highlighted trends and changes in the beauty industry. Articles included results of a readers' cosmetics poll, beauty breakthroughs and the results of a skin care survey. In the article "All Our Best," the magazine revealed the 155 products that were voted "best of beauty" by 8,000 Allure readers. Winners included Pantene Pro-V conditioner, Maybelline Great Lash mascara, Cetaphil cleanser and Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion. In the breakthrough-products category, top products included Roc Retinol retinol: see Vitamin A under vitamin. Actif Pur Anti-Cellulite treatment, Prescriptives Traceless foundation, Almay Kinetin kinetin (kī`nətĭn), one of a group of chemically similar plant hormones, the cytokinins, that promote cell division. The magazine also gave guidelines on how to use some of the newest ingredients on the market.
