Alltel Offers Picture, Video Sharing with Verizon Wireless and Cingular Wireless.


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Alltel (NYSE NYSE

: AT) customers now can share picture and video messages on their wireless phones with Verizon Wireless Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, owns and operates the second largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, based on total wireless customers.  and Cingular Wireless customers. Alltel is offering the enhanced service Enhanced service is service offered over commercial carrier transmission facilities used in interstate communications, that employs computer processing applications that act on the format, content, code, protocol, or similar aspects of the subscriber's transmitted information;  through an inter-carrier multimedia messaging agreement with the two companies. Alltel expects to forge similar agreements with additional wireless carriers in the near future.

"Inter-carrier multimedia messaging is another example of the wireless industry working together to provide an enhanced experience for customers," said Kevin Beebe, group president of operations for Alltel.

Alltel offers a variety of camera and video phones, including the Motorola V710, V265 and V262, the Nokia 6255i The Nokia 6255i is a mid-range clamshell phone, highlighted by a VGA camera. Features include:
  • VGA (640x480) camera with LED flash
  • LCD color display with 128x160 pixels supporting 65,000 colors
  • BREW and J2ME downloadable games
 and the Audiovox 8910.

Alltel Axcess Messaging Packs allow customers to send and receive any combination of text, picture or video messages for a fixed monthly rate. Pricing ranges from $5.99 a month for 300 messages to $14.99 a month for 1,500 messages.

Alltel is a customer-focused communications company Communications Company is a communications unit of the United States Marine Corps. They are part of Combat Logistics Regiment 37 , 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3MLG) and III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF). The unit is based out of the Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D.  with more than 15 million customers in 36 states and nearly $10 billion in annual revenues.
