Alltel Increases Quarterly Dividend for 45th Consecutive Year.LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Alltel's (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :AT) board of directors today increased the regular quarterly dividend from 38 cents to 38 1/2 cents on the company's common stock. This is the 45th consecutive annual dividend increase since the company's founding. The 38 1/2-cent dividend is payable Jan. 3, 2006, to stockholders of record as of Dec. 9, 2005. The new indicated annual dividend rate will increase 2 cents to $1.54 per common share. Regular quarterly dividends also were declared on all series of the company's preferred stock Stock shares that have preferential rights to dividends or to amounts distributable on liquidation, or to both, ahead of common shareholders. Preferred stock is given preference over common stock. Holders of preferred stock receive dividends at a fixed annual rate. .
