Alltel Customers Can Text Donations to Hurricane Katrina Relief.

Customers can make a $5 donation by sending the text message "give" to the number "24357" (2HELP). Text donations can be made through Oct. 31, 2005. All donations are tax deductible and will appear on customers' monthly bills.

"Text messaging has been a vital communications tool in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina," said Kevin Beebe, group president of operations for Alltel. "Texting a donation is a simple way for our customers to provide much needed help to hurricane victims."

Alltel is a customer-focused communications company Communications Company is a communications unit of the United States Marine Corps. They are part of Combat Logistics Regiment 37 , 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3MLG) and III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF). The unit is based out of the Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D.  with more than 15 million customers in 36 states and nearly $10 billion in annual revenues.
