Alltel Begins Offering Nokia Camera, Video Phone.

:AT) today began offering the Nokia 6255i The Nokia 6255i is a mid-range clamshell phone, highlighted by a VGA camera. Features include:
  • VGA (640x480) camera with LED flash
  • LCD color display with 128x160 pixels supporting 65,000 colors
  • BREW and J2ME downloadable games
 wireless phone featuring a camera and flash, video recorder See DVR, DVD-R and DVD drives. , MP3 player A digital music player that supports the MP3 format, which was the audio format that started a revolution in online music downloads and distribution. All portable music players, the iPod being the most popular, support MP3 along with one or more other audio formats.  and Bluetooth technology.

With the camera, Alltel customers can snap, send and receive color photos with voice and text messages utilizing the company's industry leading flat-rate Axcess Messaging Pack. The service combines text, picture or video messaging in one pricing bundle that gives customers freedom to send any of the three messages at a flat rate. Axcess Messaging Packs start at $5.99 a month for 300 outgoing or incoming messages.

"The Nokia 6255i is a sleek flip phone with a powerful set of personalization features and tools our customers want," said Wade McGill, vice president of wireless product marketing. The new phone, featuring a 640x480 pixel camera, also supports Axcess Mobile Web 2.0, Alltel's enhanced wireless Internet service that includes graphics, pictures and other useful tools.

The Nokia 6255i will cost $129.99 for a two-year service agreement and $189.99 for a one-year agreement.

"The Nokia 6255i follows in this tradition, offering high-value features like image and video capture, Bluetooth wireless technology and an integrated digital music player Hardware or software that plays audio files encoded in MP3, AAC, WMA or other audio formats. There are several software-based music players that play audio files in a desktop or laptop computer, including iTunes, RealPlayer and Windows Media Player.  to Alltel subscribers."

With Axcess Mobile Web 2.0, customers can browse Web sites, send and receive email, play Web games and receive news, weather and sports alerts and directory information on their phone. Axcess Mobile Web can be added to any service plan for $5.99 per month.
