Allstate to begin nonrenewing policies in coastal New York state.

Allstate Corp. will begin nonrenewing homeowners insurance policies this May in coastal areas of New York, state regulators confirmed.

The move comes about a month after Allstate announced it wouldn't be writing any new homeowners business in New York City, Long Island and southern Westchester.

Allstate already had announced it wasn't renewing 95,000 homeowners policies in Florida.
