Allstate nonrenewing earthquake in most states.


Just two months after Allstate Corp. said it no longer would write any new earthquake endorsements, the second-largest homeowners insurer in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Allstate spokesman Mike Trevino said the move is part of the property/casualty insurer's ongoing effort to limit its exposure to catastrophic risks, an effort that accelerated after Hurricane Katrina.
