AlliedSignal to Represent Riedel-de Haen Specialty Chemicals in U.S.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 1996--The Performance Chemicals unit of AlliedSignal Inc. will assume all responsibilities for the representation of Riedel-de Haen products in the United States, effective July 1, 1996. Riedel-de Haen products previously were handled by the Hoechst Celanese-Riedel-de Haen Products Group in Charlotte, North Carolina.

AlliedSignal acquired Riedel-de Haen from Hoechst AG in 1995 and is integrating it into its worldwide Specialty Chemicals business. Riedel-de Haen, a leading European specialty chemicals manufacturer, based in Seelze, Germany, serves, among others, the fast-growing pharmaceutical and electronics industries, and the coatings, photo dyes and specialty pigments markets. Some of the products that now will be offered by AlliedSignal's Performance Chemicals business include:

Inorganic Chemicals - Fluorides, Chlorides, Bromides, Salts of Inorganic and Organic acids, Oxides and Phosphorus compounds used in the plastics, fibers, electroplating, metal surface treatment and pharmaceutical industries.

Organic Chemicals - Bromo organics and Fluoroaromatic compounds for use as intermediates in pharmaceutical and agricultural products, cosmetics and plastics as well as UV Absorbers.

MERGAL(R) Industrial Preservatives - Used in the control of fungi in paints, coatings, plasters, sealants and filler surfaces.

LUMILUX(R) Luminescent Pigments - Pigments for escape and rescue routes, accident prevention, safety symbols and signs, plastics, paints and security printing inks. Phosphors for lighting, television and radioscopy screens, cathode ray tubes and image intensifiers.

PINA(R) Photographic Dyes - Photographic dyes and sensitizers for silver and non-silver halide photography.

HYDRANAL(R)- Karl Fisher reagent for water determination in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and cosmetics.
