) Friday announced that it has named James D. Taiclet Jr. president of its Aerospace Services unit, which provides a wide range of aftermarket services to commercial, regional, business and military customers worldwide.

Taiclet is responsible for managing AlliedSignal's increasingly important aerospace aftermarket services effort. Aerospace Services encompasses AlliedSignal's Repair and Overhaul business, which supports 38 sites worldwide; the company's Commercial Spares operation, which includes AlliedSignal Aerospace's strategic alliance with CAT Logistics; and its Military Customer Support business.

Taiclet comes to AlliedSignal from Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp., where he was vice president of its engine services business based in Hartford, Conn. Before joining Pratt & Whitney in 1996, Taiclet was a senior engagement manager with McKinsey & Co., and earlier served in the U.S. Air Force.
