) announced today that Goldman Sachs The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., or simply Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) is one of the world's largest global investment banks. Goldman Sachs was founded in 1869, and is headquartered in the Lower Manhattan area of New York City at 85 Broad Street.  & Co., the book-running manager and representative of the underwriters of the Company's July 11, 2006 initial public offering of common shares, exercised its full over-allotment option to purchase an additional 1,320,000 of common shares priced at $34.00 per share, bringing the total shares offered to 10,120,000 with total gross proceeds of $344 million.
