Allied Telesyn iMAP Provides Ethernet Services on T1/E1/DS3 Transport Facilities.

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Allied Telesyn, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber infrastructure, announced today that its iMAP integrated Multiservice Access Platform now enables service providers to offer Ethernet services over T1/E1 transport and DS3 facilities. By incorporating the new NTE (NT Embedded) See Windows XP Embedded. 8 8-port T1 line card into any Allied Telesyn iMAP, service providers can offer Ethernet services directly to business customers on existing copper facilities. In addition, the temperature hardened NEBS compliant (Network Equipment Building Systems compliant) Adhering to standards from Telcordia for equipment used in telco central offices (COs). Most equipment must be NEBS certified before it can be integrated into carrier facilities.  NTE8 can be used as an Ethernet transport backhaul on existing T1/E1 facilities.

Allied Telesyn's iMAP is the only true carrier grade IP/Ethernet platform offering the service flexibility, scalability and protection of investment that service providers need. When equipped with the NTE8 line card, the iMAP provides high-speed Internet See broadband.  services as well as POTS over legacy T1/E1 circuits. By bonding T1/E1 facilities, NTE8 provides up to 16 Mbps of Ethernet bandwidth to an end-user.

"We have deployed Ethernet services over DS3 facilities for some time with the iMAP technology. The addition of the T1/E1 Ethernet transport on the iMAP increases the reach of business Ethernet services over the last copper mile," said Philip Yim, executive vice president of global marketing & product development for Allied Telesyn. "Small to medium-sized business has been underserved by service providers due the capital cost associated with upgrading to Fiber-to-the-Business. We solve this business challenge with a cost-effective Ethernet over T1/E1 copper solution. This is a business opportunity for service providers to enable Ethernet at the edge of their networks at a reasonable cost."

The iMAP implements bonded T1 through the use of Multi-Link Peer to Peer Protocol (MLPPP See MPPP. ), an industry standard that is interoperable with a wide range of customer provided equipment. Other notable features include the support for short haul Short distance. Short haul implies traversing a small geographic area such as a few miles at most. Contrast with long haul. See line driver.  (less than 700 feet) and long haul (more than 6,000 feet) spans. The NTE8 interface card supports global network applications with T1s that are fully compliant to ANSI (American National Standards Institute, New York, www.ansi.org) A membership organization founded in 1918 that coordinates the development of U.S. voluntary national standards in both the private and public sectors. It is the U.S. member body to ISO and IEC.  T1.102 and E1s that are fully compliant to ITU-T See ITU.

G.703 standards. Allied Telesyn's range of secure business routers and WAN-enabled switches complement the iMAP T1/E1 for an end-to-end solution.

The RUS-accepted iMAP is a NEBS-certified, environmentally-hardened access solution that delivers carrier-class next-generation and traditional telco services over IP. The iMAP accommodates both fiber and copper-based deployments from a single platform. Ideal for new access deployments and upgrades, the iMAP features a modular chassis design that simultaneously supports different applications from IP access, Ethernet transport, and network aggregation.
