Allied Telesyn Ships First True IP-based Platform for Native POTS, FTTx, and ADSL2+; 3 Services in 1 System Increases Operational Benefits for IOCs, ILECs, and RBOCs.BOTHELL, Wash. -- Allied Telesyn today announced the groundbreaking addition of a POTS POTS - Parents Over the Shoulder POTS - Parting on the Square (Internet-Masonic Lexicon) POTS - Path Of The Shell (game Uru: Ages Beyond Myst) POTS - Perception of Teasing Scale POTS - Piss Off, Tomorrow's Saturday (principally Australian slang) POTS - Plain Old Telephone Service POTS - Plain Old Telephone System POTS - Plain Old Time Sharing (operating systems) POTS - Post Office Telephone Service POTS - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome card to its carrier class AT-TN9000 Multiservice Access Platform (MAP), making it the first true Ethernet/IP platform to support native POTS, FTTx, and ADSL2+ in one shelf. The new POTS card can be deployed in a Central Office or the Remote Multi-services Terminal (RMT RMT - National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (UK) RMT - Radiomagnetotelluric (Method, Measurements) RMT - Random Matrix Theory RMT - Rasch Measurement Transaction (education) RMT - Rate My Teachers.com RMT - Raw Magnetic Tape RMT - Real Money Transfer (role playing games) RMT - Real-Money Trading RMT - Recognition Memory Test RMT - Records Management Taskforce (Australian Computer Society) RMT - Reed-Muller Transform) cabinet line, and terminates voice services into a traditional Class 5 switch via GR303 or TR08, as well as directly into IP Softswitches. The development is the latest of a series of releases from Allied Telesyn's world class development center in Raleigh, North Carolina. "Allied Telesyn has jumped ahead of the pack, with the addition of legacy POTS services. When the rest of the industry was retrenching, Allied Telesyn was expanding its resources and investment in Carrier Class technology. We took no shortcuts, and are now offering the most flexible, advanced system design in the market, based on the architecture Service Providers clearly want -- Ethernet and IP," said Howard Kamerer, president and COO. To enable Service Providers to support the "Five Nines" voice services that their customers expect, Allied Telesyn has also introduced Ethernet Protection Switching Rings (EPSR). Compatible with RFC3619, EPSR allows Service Providers to connect networks into self- healing logical rings, and provide 50 millisecond hitless failover in the event of network failures. This feature allows lifeline services, as well as video, to be protected on redundant facilities. "Our system level architecture is the best in the industry. It's not ATM with IP bolted on top, externally linked pizza boxes, or disparate systems interconnected. The TN9000 was designed from the ground up as an IP solution and includes unique advanced features for QoS, IGMP, and security," said Bill Allen, vice president operations, Network Service Provider Group. Clearly service providers agree as they standardize on Allied Telesyn as their access vendor for all access services. "The TN9000 is the future of our Network," said Rod Olson of Vernon Telephone Cooperative. "We had standardized on it for ADSL, and are now deploying the MAP with POTS and ADSL2+ in their new RMT cabinet. No other access solution offers the breadth of service and operational savings that Allied Telesyn does. Combined with their complete solution offerings and support, we feel we are in excellent hands." "We initially deployed Allied Telesyn for new video customers over DSL. We quickly saw immense benefits with their unique IP security features and have begun migration of existing customers as well. Their ability to support FTTx and now POTS, across three chassis sizes as part of the same system, offers immense operational benefits. We have selected Allied Telesyn as our Triple Play vendor of choice," said Curt Walzel, CEO of Livingston Telephone. To complete the AT-TN9000 suite of legacy services, support for T1 Hicap services, and DSO special circuits is offered. The POTS card will be supported in both the AT-TN7000 and AT-TN9000 model MAPs. The POTS card is deployed today in live customer networks, and will be generally available in August 2004. Allied Telesyn will be demonstrating live, the largest interoperable fiber and POTS/GR303 network at SUPERCOMM in the Triple Play Alliance Pavilion June 22-24, booth #23316.
