Allied Telesyn Arms Connexion Technologies with Fiber to the Premise IP Triple Play.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Allied Telesyn, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber infrastructure, today announced that Connexion Technologies, formerly Capitol Infrastructure, has selected Allied Telesyn's IP Triple Play solutions to provide Fiber to the Premise communications to its subscribers. The first deployment will take place in a 400-unit condominium high-rise complex scheduled for completion in summer 2006; Connexion Technologies estimates as many as 200,000 new subscribers may be added to its subscriber base as a result of the new Ethernet/IP technology.

Connexion Technologies, a leading deployer of optical Fiber to the Home technology based in Cary, N.C., will use Allied Telesyn's IP Triple Play products to deliver services over a scaleable, active Ethernet network. Utilizing Allied Telesyn's carrier-class iMAP integrated Multiservice Access Platform, iMG intelligent Multiservice Gateway and Layer 2/3 switches, Connexion Technologies will offer its customers greater bandwidth with dedicated 100Mb service per subscriber. The bandwidth provided by Allied Telesyn's active FTTP solution future-proofs Connexion Technologies' network and is unattainable with the shared bandwidth of current passive optical networks.

The service provider decided to deploy active Ethernet networks using the iMAP because of the platform's flexibility and reliability. Allied Telesyn's standards-based IEEE 802.3ah EFM active fiber network will allow Connexion Technologies to seamlessly expand its next-generation IP services over time, keeping it in-step or ahead of the competition without any equipment change-out required.

Connexion Technologies currently deploys triple play services using PON technologies with RF video overlay. By utilizing Allied Telesyn's iMG Optical Network Terminal (ONT) with RF overlay, the bandwidth available per subscriber is nearly tripled. This allows for the migration from RF video to Switched Digital Video without replacing gateways at the home; service providers can utilize existing RF head-ends that have not reached the end of their life or depreciation schedule.
