Allied Telesis Expands Packet Transport Market Lead with DS3 Capability for the iMAP.

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Allied Telesis Allied Telesis is a telecommunications company, formerly Allied Telesyn. Headquartered in Japan, their North American headquarters are in Bothell, Washington, a suburb of Seattle.  (formerly Allied Telesyn), a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber infrastructure, today announced DS3 transport capability for its iMAP integrated Multiservice Access Platform. The new feature extends the capabilities of the iMAP, creating the first pure Ethernet/IP access and DS3 transport platform.

Allied Telesis' iMAP is a streamlined solution for network managers frustrated with the expense and upkeep of multiple one-dimensional products. ILECs and CLECs can use the iMAP for interoffice in·ter·of·fice

transport of data over DS3 links and also to convert DS3 into Ethernet. Instead of maintaining separate inventories of expensive DS3-dedicated devices and access platforms, service providers can save money by using the iMAP to bundle their transport and Ethernet access needs.

The award-winning iMAP delivers carrier-class next-generation and traditional telco services over Ethernet/IP. Recently voted the #1 OSP (Online Service Provider) See online service.

It accommodates both fiber and copper-based deployments and supports a wide range of services including POTS MGCP/SIP, xDSL, DS3, T1/E1, Ethernet, active fiber, GEPON GEPON Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network

"The versatility of the iMAP enables carriers to utilize one platform for all of their access and data transport needs, regardless of configuration," said Executive Vice President of Global Marketing & Product Development Philip Yim. "By adding DS3 transport functionality to the iMAP, we are enabling service providers to consolidate devices and eliminate the high costs associated with SONET/SDH DS3 equipment."

The iMAP's ability to provide DS3 access enables service providers to efficiently migrate from legacy TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) A technology that transmits multiple signals simultaneously over a single transmission path. Each lower-speed signal is time sliced into one high-speed transmission.  technology to Ethernet/IP. As voice, video and data applications demand more bandwidth, Ethernet access has become a necessity to deliver cost-effective, high-quality service. The iMAP has established itself as the most flexible, scalable and cost-effective Ethernet/IP-based access and transport platform on the market.
