The Delta pilots have already made more than $1 billion in agreed-to annual concessions toward the restructuring of their airline, and have stepped forward to offer an additional $90.7 million in annual givebacks," said Captain Ralph Hunter, APA president. "We share the pilots' objection to having the terms of their working agreement voided by a bankruptcy court judge. On Oct. 19, the Delta pilots affirmed their goal of sustaining viable careers for Delta pilots with a financially viable company. We fully support this goal and wish the pilots of Delta the very best in their efforts to achieve it through a consensual resolution, rather than one that is imposed upon them." Founded in 1963, APA is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. There are currently 2,890 American Airlines pilots on furlough. The furloughs began shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Also, several hundred American Airlines pilots are on full-time military leave of absence serving in the armed forces.
