;AIBPR;FMBPR) is pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Buckley has been appointed Group Chief Executive Designate, to succeed Mr. Tom Mulcahy Tom Mulcahy was an Irish sportsperson who played hurling with the Cork senior inter-county team throughout the 1940s.

Mulcahy first came to prominence in 1941 as a member of the Cork minor hurling team.
 on his retirement in June 2001.

Mr. Buckley, who has been an Executive Director of AIB since 1995, is currently head of the Group's Polish Division, and was Managing Director of the Capital Markets Division from 1994 to 1999. Before joining AIB in 1991, Mr. Buckley had a distinguished career in stockbroking, and in the public service in Ireland and the EU.

Mr. Buckley, aged 55, is a native of Cork.
