Alliance ProMotion Family Now Supports StereoGraphics SimulEyes VR 3D Eyewear; High-Performance 3D Graphics on Home PC Made Possible by ProMotion.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 1996--Alliance Semiconductor Corporation announced today that its ProMotion graphics and video accelerators will support StereoGraphics Corporation's latest stereo vision eyewear product, SimulEyes VR for multimedia programs and games on home PCs.

Alliance now provides a reference design for a ProMotion-based Multimedia User Interface (MMUI MMUI Multi Modal Paradigm User Interface ) adapter card with direct support for StereoGraphics eyewear. In addition, SimulEyes VR-ready ProMotion accelerators are sampling now to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  graphics hardware suppliers.

SimulEyes VR stereo vision eyewear transforms home multimedia PCs into stunningly realistic 3D environments with eye-catching visual effects by adding true depth perception for game play. SimulEyes VR eyewear fits over most glasses for maximum comfort, weighs only a few ounces and is simple to install.

While SimulEyes VR is designed to operate with a variety of different graphics accelerators, the direct-connect reference design will allow a ProMotion and SimulEyes VR combination to be less expensive than one based on an ordinary graphics controller.

"The movement in the PC graphics industry to integrate stereo vision support in silicon will facilitate unparalleled realism in 3D games and multimedia software at an affordable consumer price," said Dick Martin, StereoGraphics' president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Graphics adapters which combine Alliance's ProMotion acceleration with the SimulEyes VR system will make for stunning stereo vision 3D gaming on standard PCs," said Sid Agrawal, Alliance's vice president of marketing. "ProMotion's high-performance, low-cost graphics and game acceleration is an ideal partner to StereoGraphics' 3D eyewear."

ProMotion Graphics and Video Accelerators

Alliance's ProMotion family of graphics and video controllers are high-performance, integrated Windows accelerators with built-in hardware acceleration for MPEG-1 motion video playback and scaling. ProMotion controllers are designed to seamlessly accelerate graphics and multimedia applications under Windows 95, Windows 3.x and other operating environments.

ProMotion controllers support high resolutions and refresh rates for displays of up to 16.7 million colors. They feature PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.
