Alliance Forest Products Inc. Acquires a 49 Percent Interest in Scierie C.F.G. Inc.

) Alliance Forest Products Inc. today acquired a 49 percent interest in the capital stock of Scierie C.F.G. inc. of the Lac St-Jean region. Scierie C.F.G. inc. operates a modern sawmill and has cutting rights to 126,200 cubic metres of timber annually. The company's woodlands are located next to those being developed by Alliance Forest Products Inc.

"This strategic alliance allows us to increase our fibre supply and our involvement in local socio-economic development," said Pierre Monahan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Forest Products Inc. following the closing of the transaction. "We will also benefit from the forest management expertise of the Cooperative forestiere de Girardville, the other Scierie C.F.G. inc. will benefit from Alliance Forest Products Inc.'s expertise in sawing and lumber marketing" said Daniel Fortin, President of the co-operative.

The agreement allows Alliance Forest Products Inc. to eventually acquire an interest in the co-operative's nursery center.
