) at Fort Worth Alliance Airport Fort Worth Alliance Airport (IATA: AFW, ICAO: KAFW) is located 14 miles (23 km) north of Fort Worth, Texas. Billed as the world's first purely industrial airport, it was developed in a joint venture between the City of Fort Worth, the Federal Aviation  has earned ExxonMobil's Tiger Spirit Gold Award, recognizing the facility's outstanding customer service.

The Alliance FBO has been named one of the top FBOs in the country by ExxonMobil every year since it opened in 1996.

The honor is given based on surveys of independent pilots who visit FBOs around the country and detailed inspections by ExxonMobil's professional quality Assurance Team.

The Alliance FBO offers a high level of service for the passengers and pilots of private planes, as well as military aircraft. The 55,000 square foot FBO features a 23,000 square foot aviation/office center and a 32,000 square foot hangar. Among its amenities are a plush lounge, a pilots' room complete with a shower and sleeping area, and a flight control room for pilots to file flight plans and monitor weather. Twelve private jets are housed and maintained in the facility.

Alliance Aviation Services has been able to maintain its high quality of service despite the increased activity at the airport. Takeoffs and landings increased from 185,000 in 1998 to 225,000 last year. The Tiger Spirit Award is one of several honors that have been earned by Fort Worth Alliance Airport entities over the past few months. In March, the airport's flight control staff, which runs the control tower, received national recognition from the Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  with the Air Traffic Services Award and for error-free operations since the airport opened in 1989.
