"The response we have received within the Alliance Corridor is tremendous, particularly since it is a summer food drive," said Verkamp. "Support for food banks is generally given at the holidays, however many children that receive free or reduced-cost breakfast and lunches throughout the school year are at home without food during the summer. So not only are we helping fill their pantries, but we also are focusing on kid-friendly foods, like peanut butter and cans with pop-tops that are easily opened by small fingers."

Both food and financial contributions will be given to the Tarrant Area Food Bank, a nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization
