Allfirst Financial Selects Travelers Express Official Checks and Money Orders.

), announced today that Maryland-based Allfirst Financial recently converted more than 250 of its Allfirst Bank locations to the Travelers Express official check and money order processing platform.

"Travelers Express's processing system was an important factor in our decision," said Jean Pugliese, vice president of Allfirst Financial. "It's flexible and can accommodate our future growth, while providing quality service for our customers."

Philip W. Milne, chief executive officer at Travelers Express/MoneyGram, said, "Our system appeals to an increasing number of the nation's largest banks that want reliable, innovative and technologically advanced service. We're also Y2K-ready."

Allfirst's official checks, which are issued to customers for mortgages, car loans and other types of disbursements, still bear Allfirst's name, but the "back office" processing is now handled at Travelers Express's Minneapolis processing center. The Allfirst money orders are also now processed by Travelers Express.
